During COVID, we all experienced what it is like to be trapped inside. The sense of loneliness and isolation that has become the reality for many older adults in our communities suddenly struck closer to home. During these dark days we started hearing stories coming from a program that our dad John had started down in Santa Barbara. A group of crazy volunteers giving lifesaving bike rides to those who needed them most.
As filmmakers and storytellers who grew up on two wheels, we have helped share narratives about the power of pedaling all around the world. These stories frequently focused on how bicycles can give freedom to those just beginning life’s journey. Cycling Without Age presented us with the chance to share the power of this incredibly simple yet transformative machine for those in their final chapter.
We started Pedal Born Pictures to tell stories that keep people talking long after they leave the theater or close the browser window. We hope this film does that for you. We hope it makes you pick up the phone and call grandma or grandpa. Makes you want to go for a ride. Gets you thinking about how vital it is for us all to feel the wind in our hair.
See you on the ride,
Jacob and Isaac
